First Launch and Permissions

On first launch, Vida guides you through permissions.

Grant Screen Recording permission

1. Open Vida.
2. In onboarding, choose Allow Screen Recording.
3. macOS may open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen Recording.
4. Enable Vida.
5. If macOS asks, quit and reopen Vida so permission takes effect.

Screen Recording is required for full-screen recordings. It may also be needed for system audio capture because macOS provides system audio through screen capture APIs.

Grant Microphone permission

1. In onboarding, choose Allow Microphone.
2. Confirm the macOS permission dialog.
3. If permission was previously denied, open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone and enable Vida.

Microphone is optional. If it is off, Vida can still record screen and/or system audio.

Check permission status later

1. Open Vida.
2. Go to Settings.
3. Find Permissions.
4. Review Screen Recording and Microphone status.
5. Use Open System Settings if anything needs to be enabled.
