The two network connections

Speech models from Hugging Face

The first time a transcription model is needed, Vida downloads public model files from huggingface.co and its hf.co storage hosts. Vida sends an empty token and no account, identifier or content. Hugging Face can see ordinary request details such as your IP address, device type and the files requested.

Purchases through the App Store

If you buy Vida Pro, Apple handles the payment. Vida uses StoreKit to check whether Vida Pro is owned. Vida never receives your payment card, Apple Account or name.

About the App Privacy label

Because Apple counts data kept by an external service used by an app as collected, Vida conservatively discloses what Hugging Face may retain from model downloads: coarse location derived from the IP address, product interaction (the files requested) and device details. Vida does not receive those logs and does not use them for tracking.

Where your files live

Recordings
In the folder you choose. Vida never moves them somewhere else.
Transcripts
Next to the recording they belong to.
Settings and models
In Vida's folder inside Application Support.
When you delete
Recordings go to the Trash. Removing the app keeps everything you made.

Permissions

Screen Recording
Required to capture the screen and system audio.
Microphone
Only when you choose to record your microphone.
Camera
Only when you turn on the camera overlay.

This website is separate from the app. It uses Google Analytics only if you accept analytics cookies, with advertising features turned off.
