Best default setup

For most screen recordings:

1. Mode: Screen + Audio
2. Audio: System Audio on, Microphone as needed
3. Quality: Balanced
4. Format: MP4
5. Countdown: 3s
6. Save location: ~/Movies/Recordings
7. After the countdown, confirm every selected REC badge icon is green before continuing.
8. If you pause, remember the final file skips that paused interval instead of adding silence.

Smallest useful video file

1. Mode: Screen + Audio
2. Quality: Small size
3. Format: MP4
4. Turn off Microphone if not needed.

Best audio-only file size

1. Mode: Audio Only
2. Format: M4A
3. Enable only the audio sources you need.

Highest practical quality

1. Mode: Screen + Audio
2. Quality: High Quality
3. Format: MOV for Apple workflows or MP4 for broader compatibility.
4. Confirm enough disk space before long sessions.
